Why is the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) updating the BNA® Master Plan?2025-12-10T21:52:40+00:00

The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority® (MNAA) is updating the BNA® Master Plan to keep pace with the rapid growth and evolving needs of Nashville International Airport® (BNA®). The previous plan, approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 2020, laid the groundwork for major improvements—such as the updated Grand Lobby and Concourse D extension—delivered through the BNA® Vision and New Horizon expansion programs.

With passenger traffic continuing to reach record highs, airport facilities and operations are under increasing pressure. This sustained growth underscores the need for an update to the BNA® Master Plan to ensure that BNA can continue to meet future demand. Building on the foundation of the 2020 plan, the new BNA® Master Plan will provide a strategic framework for development through 2047, with opportunities for community and stakeholders engagement.

What is the difference between New Horizon and the BNA® Master Plan?2025-12-10T21:53:23+00:00

New Horizon is the construction and renovation plan for Nashville International Airport® (BNA®) to meet the unprecedented growth of Nashville and travel needs of passengers. Following the success of BNA® Vision—the airport’s first expansion program, completed in February 2024—BNA began the design phase of New Horizon in 2022. This second major expansion represents an additional $3 billion investment, implemented in phases, with completion anticipated in 2029. In total, BNA’s development budget and scope since 2017 will reach $4.5 billion. For more details, visit BNANewHorizon.com

The BNA® Master Plan, by contrast, is a long-range‑planning study that examines the airport’s development needs over the next 20 years.
